ADC Past President, the Rev. Canon Nancy Ford was (in her own words) "gobsmacked" when a special "Thank You" video message recorded by Archbishop Linda Nicholls (Primate of the Anglican Church of Canada) was played at the close of Anglican Deacons Canada's 2021 virtual conference on Sat. July 10. She was also moved to tears.

The Anglican Deacons Canada 2021 virtual conference marked the conclusion of Nancy Ford’s extended term as ADC President. Myself and the other members of the ADC board had wondered how best to express our deep gratitude to Nancy for her leadership from 2017 to 2020 and throughout the pandemic. If the conference was held in person then we could have presented her with flowers or a gift, but what could we do to thank her at a virtual event?

AED President Tracie Middleton told us that last year the Association for Episcopal Deacons had asked their Presiding Bishop Michael Curry to record a special thank you message for their outgoing president. So, inspired by this idea ADC board members wondered aloud if we could ask our Primate to do something similar for Nancy Ford.  “What the heck," we agreed, "the worse that can happen is that she says no." The wonderful thing is that Archbishop Linda Nicholls said yes.
